Energy Science Fair Projects and Energy Efficiency
Turning Energy Science Fair Projects Into a Career
Explore career options with Pico Turbine Windmill science projects...
Finding the right career is not an easy thing to do. Not only do you need to determine what career will make you happy, but you also have to find a career that will ensure you can make a living in an uncertain market. If you happen to enjoy science then you can turn your energy science fair projects into a very profitable and fulfilling career.
For most students science fair projects are simply just classroom assignments that have to be completed in order to pass. However, these projects can be a jumping off point for a great career. Why? Because the science concepts that you explore, or the conclusions that you derive, can help solve a current problem that the world is facing like energy shortages and pollution. Since you have to complete a science fair project anyway, why not use it to improve your chances of getting a good education and a good job offer after you graduate?
Inch by Inch It's a Cinch
- The first thing that you need to do to turn your energy science fair project into a career opportunity by focusing on a problem that is currently plaguing the world, i.e. affordable and reliable renewable energy.
- The next step is to design a project that will search for a solution to a very specific problem. For example, you can test the hypothesis that the size of the PicoTurbine Windmill blade is directly related to the amount of energy that it produces.
- Next you will want to make predictions and recommendations for future research. These recommendations can be used by you for future research projects, or they can be used to inspire other scientists. Also you can use your recommendations for future research to impress the judges by showing them that you understand your topic and that you have learned from your project.
- One of the best ways to translate a science fair project into a career growth opportunity is to research the sponsors and awards that will be given out at the science fair that you will be entering. For example, the U.S. Department of Energy may be sponsoring a special scholarship award for the best renewable energy science fair project, or a private corporation may be sponsoring a prize for a wind energy project. The key here is to find the prizes and awards that have the most value to you, and then design a project that will qualify you for that prize. The prizes, which range from scholarship money to science equipment, can be used to pay for college, summer science camp or to enhance your science skills.
- Science fairs offer students numerous benefits including scholarships, gift certificates and merchandise. However, they also offer students the chance to interact with others in the science industry, especially at higher level science fairs and at industry sponsored contests. While most of the judges at regional and state science fairs will be teachers, you can still benefit from interacting with them. For example, you can use these interactions to practice answering questions about your project and you can use their critiques to improve your project's overall design.
At the national level and at specialty science contests you will come into contact with science professors, scientists and industry professionals. These are the people that will be able to help you find opportunities to improve your chances of getting accepted into the college of your choice, winning a scholarship and getting offered a stellar job after you graduate.
- Contribution... the science industry, like all other business or not-for-profit organizations, is impressed when you are a contributor to the world in which we live. Did you ever hear of the program, "Science Fair Projects Across the Waters"? It was developed out of President Obama's Inaugural Speech. The purpose of the program is to help students of developing countries learn about science fair projects. All you have to do is donate your project and it is put online for kids from all over the world. Many schools and families cannot afford the materials to do science projects. By reading about your project, they will be able to envision what science fair projects are all about. And you get to put the link to your site on your résumé!
- Finally, what is most important is do what you love to do and you will attract success with the energy of your attitude. It is the most powerful attribute that you possess! This is called The Law of Attraction.
